As we study reasons why many leave their point of origin to live here in Canada we look at the 'Push and Pull' factors we focused first on the former; What pushes people to move from where they were living?In our quest for understanding we used Jamaica as a starting point.
We watched the documentary Life and Debt. According to their web site the movie is described as follows:

This documentary sheds light on the 'Push' factors shared by many developing countries in a similar state as Jamaica.
It also helps answer the question asked in class: Why are you here?
Jamaica was both exploited , and use as an ATM for the Bigger countries . When they were given their independence as sort of a budget cut . Instead if giving them a chance and letting them try to stand on there own as a third world nation.
